2014+ Yamaha FZ-09 Elite-1 Fender Eliminator: A Closer Look
As you may have seen, our Yamaha FZ-09 Elite-1 Fender Eliminator and FZ-09 Undertail Closeout are now available for purchase and have been taking the market by storm. When a highly anticipated product like this releases, we usually get flooded with questions on what’s included, fitment, installation, and pricing. For the most part, all of that information can be found in the product ads or even in our step-by-step installation videos on our YouTube Channel. However, there are some questions that customers have that are left unanswered. So I’m here to take you a little deeper into the design of this product and go over some key features we’re bringing to the table as well as some features we’ve left behind.
To begin, we wanted to ensure our product would fit and install with ease, look good, and most importantly, function as intended. We designed the closeout specifically to cover the hole left behind from the OEM fender and wrap around the keyhole, leaving the rider with complete access to their trunk compartment. No need to fiddle with a cover or remove pieces in order to insert your key. We know that from the factory, Yamaha has a plastic spring loaded flip cover to keep your keyhole “covered” but it’s simply not needed. It keeps the look of our kit seamless and also keeps the cost down on you – the customer! If you take a look at 99% of bikes out there, most have their ignition keyholes completely uncovered and open to the elements. Yes, that means water, dirt, even bugs could technically get in there and cause an uneasy unlocking process. A little spray of some WD-40 once or twice a year will keep your keyhole nice and lubricated which means you will be available to worry about more important things!
Another big area we wanted to hit was the overall look of our closeout. The FZ-09 is a great looking bike and we try our best to not take away from that. Our closeout, as it’s currently manufactured without any key-cover, is aesthetically pleasing. Formed around the existing keyhole and then fit seamlessly against the rest of the undertail, this piece not only feels like an OEM piece, it also looks like an OEM piece. As with the rest of our undertail closeouts, we have gone with CNC machining and then a nice glossy, black anodized finish to bring attention to detail in an otherwise unnoticed area on the bike.
And finally, the construction. Our undertail closeout is machined out of billet 6061 aluminum right here in Central Florida. After machining, the closeout is put through a surface brushing process, and then the grooves and curves are created through some quick surface machining. And as I mentioned earlier, it is finished by anodizing it with a black gloss finish. USA designed and made!
There you have it. A finished product that’s completely functional, looks good, and won’t break the bank. Pair this product with our newly released 2014+ Yamaha FZ-09 Integrated Tail Light and you have a completely revamped look on your bike for a price point that cannot be beat.
