The Story Behind SFLminiGP

SFLMINIGP was created by Michael Correa in Nov of 2015. Michael Correa was introduced to the program in NJ in the Fall of 2013. He decided to have his son Julian Correa participate in the events held at New Jersey Motorsports Park and fell in love with the entire program that NJMINIGP offered. As fast as he fell in love, he was quickly removed from it due to a job relocation. So he headed down to FL to find a comparable program so he could continue his family’s participation in the sport. After some digging, he found Florida had only one racing organization for minis, AMA Southeast Supermoto. The organization had a program for kids and minis, it was decent, but not like NJ MiniGP. After careful conversation and agreements, SFLMINIGP was established in Nov of 2015. SFLMINIGP opened their calendar to the public for open track days and learning days twice a month from Feb 2016 thru Nov 2016. The tracks at the time were Miami GP Raceway in Opa Locka, FL and the brand new facility of Bushnell Motorsports Park in Bushnell, FL. As Michael Correa saw the potential, he decided to purchase the mini racing organization portion from AMA Southeast Supermoto at the end of 2016. In 2017, they began their race season, holding events at venues such as Miami GP Raceway, Palm Beach Karting, Orlando Kart Center, Bushnell Motorsports Park, and Florida International Rally and Motorsports Park. The line up of tracks is getting larger for 2018, including Homestead Karting, Daytona Speedway Kart Track and Jacksonville’s 103rd St Karting.

The SFLMINIGP fleet currently has (6) six Honda CRF50s, (3) three Kawasaki KLX110s, (2) two Honda CRF110s, (1) Honda CRF125, (1) Honda Grom & (2) Motrac 125s that are offered to kids and adults looking to enter the sport and try it out. SFLMINIGP provides all safety gear required for riding, so patrons can just arrive and ride.

SFLMINIGP MISSION:
We have come together as SFLMiniGP for one thing and one thing only, providing safe, fun and competitive racing for the whole family. SFLMINIGP will provide practice days for those just looking to have a good time, as well as racing for those that are looking for the highest level of mini competition. Instruction is available both in the classroom and on the track. Our format will offer the safest environment possible for your little racer to learn through experience, while being carefully followed or led each and every lap by our coaching staff. You have to start somewhere. Now’s the time and SFL MiniGP is the place. Let’s have some fun.
