Groms and Z125s and Scooters, oh my!
This past weekend, in short, was minimoto awesomeness.
Three months ago, TST Industries received an invitation to sponsor the First Inaugural Florida Mega Meet, a gathering of fun-sized riding machines. Being the Honda Grom and Kawasaki Z125 fanatics that we are, the answer was an enthusiastic, heck yes! With less than twelve weeks to plan and promote, we weren’t sure what to expect. Turns out, when you put out a call to ride, the people both north and south of the Florida-Georgia line do not disappoint.
If short notice couldn’t stop us, cold weather sure wasn’t going to either. We bundled up, loaded the truck and headed to Orlando. Despite a 35-degree weather forecast, hundreds of people united in a sea of Groms, Z125s, Ruckuses, and other scooters and minibikes. We even had a few Supermotos show up to check out the show.
One of the best parts about meet-ups like these is the provided platform to talk shop with our customers and other moto-enthusiasts. This event brought out riders from Central Florida, North Florida, Tampa, Miami, and Georgia. It is the most epic feeling in the world to see a TST Industries upgrade on a motorcycle with killer modifications, and even more incredible to hear positive product feedback in a face-to-face setting.
Mid-morning, we were able to take a break from the TST booth, walk around, and check out all of the moto-goodness. Pint-sized motorcycles, like the Honda Grom, are fantastic bikes for many reasons, one of them being endless modification options. We saw a few Groms on the lot that did us proud, showcasing our TST Undertail Integrated Tail Light System.
Just before noon, the action began with slow racing, “Best in Show” voting, and giveaways. As sponsors, we were elated to hook up a few lucky winners with some TST product. A couple of fortunate new friends walked away with a pair of Universal MiniBike Axle Sliders and a set of clear Honda Grom Flushmounts with plug-and-play converters.
Next up was the stunt show, an impressive sight to see. Groms are small in size but big in fun. Several talented riders showcased their skill with wheelies, slides, endos, and combo stunts. The food trucks showed up and we grubbed on some of Central Florida’s best street food. It was then that the TST crew took a moment, stood back and just appreciated the incredible minibike culture Central Florida has to offer. This is why we do what we do. Moto people are the best people.
The grand finale of the First Inaugural Florida Mega Meet was a 30-mile group ride, right through the heart of Downtown Orlando. We hopped on our TST-modified Groms, ready to use the broad, high bars for what they were made for, zipping through tight city streets. Picture an entire block full of scooters, Groms, and minimotos, 100 riders thick. It was as magnificent as it sounds. With a braaap-braaap and a beep-beep, the day came to an end. Can’t wait to do it again.
Looking for 2015 grom parts and was told there is a grom guru somewhere in Orlando. In need of rearsets. Not looking to buy expensive ones yet due to still being a novice at the racing scene.
