The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 was manufactured to resemble its thoroughbred big brothers, the R6 and R1. In order to make this bike street worthy, Yamaha had to include a few components we all can disagree with, including the rather bulbous stock fender. This is why we’re here to showcase and provide updates on our innovative fender eliminator. These first photos are of our 3D FDM printed prototype and design process. We will post any new pictures and prototypes here as well.

To start off, let’s explain that when removing this OEM fender, like a few others, there will be a pretty large hole left on the undertail. That can open you up to problems with bugs, rocks, water, or any other outside elements getting inside your trunk compartment. Our finished product will prevent all of that and provide a cleaned up look.

Clean and simple, yet unique and customizable.

For this particular bike we decided to follow suit on previous fender eliminators and design a product that gives the buyer complete control. When you first visit our product page, you will start with our standard undertail and from that point on, the choice is yours. Drop down menus will become your best friend on our website and here’s why. If you don’t want the adjustable fender eliminator, simply select our standard unit for a lower price. Want to add in the OEM signal bracket? No problem, choose it from the drop down menu. Let me guess - you like our Pod Signal Kit a little better? We have that as an option as well! There are many possible options and with 2 different fender eliminators, you can choose a price point that suits you best!

But how do we do it?

Like all great things we start with an idea. Upon removal of the OEM fender you immediately see the void and possibilities to fill it. We based our undertail design around the fact that it had to seem like an OEM piece while being very clear that it’s not. Our undertail will have 2 holes to mount either one of our fender eliminators as well as signal attachments if purchased. The mounting side of the undertail will have 4 screw bosses to screw in from the trunk compartment. It will also feature a “pilot hole” center, in case you would like to drill a hole for any wires you may need to run. We decided against automatically including the hole for those not interested in running any wires for a plate light or signal lights. The final undertail will be injection molded and made out of HIPS, ABS plastic, or PP. The surface of the undertail will be textured to match the texture of the rest of the bikes underside and it will be color matched – truly seamless. The fender eliminator components are all CNC billet aluminum and anodized black. All components will be manufactured locally in Florida.

Okay, so install is complicated, right?

WRONG! As always we will have a full-featured installation video to help with visuals. Depending on how mechanically inclined you are, this install is fairly simple. Remove the OEM components, replace with ours, reassemble bike. Stainless steel hardware will be included. The most challenging part of the install would be if you end up deciding to drill a hole in the undertail to run wires. But even with that said, our instructional video will make that step easy.
